The Voice Within

You know it well.
It hums your brightest dreams and whispers your darkest fears.
Sometimes it’s quiet, but it’s always there.
To ignore it would be foolish; to follow it blindly, perhaps more so.
Your wisest counsel. Your most insidious deceiver.
A part of you and yet apart.
Test its words gently, as if looking for ripeness; may you separate the divinity from the lies.
